Kubomi is a pottery by Takayuki Watanabe, a potter who makes pottery in the mountains of Izunokuni City, Shizuoka Prefecture. The soft roundness created by copying the form of natural stone onto the sand has an attractive texture that makes you feel the warmth when you touch it.
The act of using the ``soil'' of the earth we stand on and the ``trees'' that grow from it, and by burning the wood, converting the energy into ``fire'' and returning it to the earth. For Takayuki Watanabe, the ceramics that are born from this process are the very essence of life.
The natural presence of the leaf-shaped pottery gives it a relaxed feel that makes the food on it look cozy, and each piece has its own unique beauty.

1981年静岡県生まれ。2000年やきものをはじめる。陶芸研究者の芳村俊一に出会い土への関心を深め、アジア各国で土器での生活や量産陶器を学ぶ。2005年より陶芸家・黒田泰蔵のもとで働いた後、アジア７カ国の土器文化を巡り南伊豆に移住。自ら土を掘り、薪窯をつくり、本格的制作を始める。2018年同県伊豆の国市に暮らしと制作の場ををうつす。自然の石を砂に押し当てた凹みに泥を流してつくる砂型鋳込みのうつわから、「やきもの」の原点を見つめるアートピースまで。素材にエネルギーを加えることで生まれる本質的なうつくしさが魅力。
