Shallow Bowl L Black 01
"Kubomi" is a pottery by Watanabe Takayuki, a potter who makes pottery in the mountains of Izunokuni City, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. The soft roundness of the shape, which is created by copying the form of a natural stone onto sand, has an appealing texture that makes you feel the temperature of the stone when you touch it.
The act of using the "soil" of the earth on which we stand and the "wood" that grows from it, converting the energy into "fire" by burning the wood, and then returning it to the earth again. The pottery produced from this process is, for Takayuki Watanabe, the very essence of living.
