Yakimono, Circulation life.

Takayuki Watanabe, He is a ceramic artist who live in Shizuoka, Japan.
He had moved from South-izu located near the sea to the mountain side of Izunokuni city.We visited his new house and ceramic studio that renovated with almost his self.
With his wife, children, and a dog who  became his new family.
The new ceramic studio builted under the floor of his house is connected to the work place in the garden,The garden is connected to the surrounding forest.
All of the natural environment influence to his creation "YAKIMONO".

The production method of "Utsuwa" that he is working on newly is It is very primitive, but makes us feel new.
A natural stone is pressed against sand to make a dent. Gently pour mud and burnt there. These can be said that it is simply a copy of the stone form.
It is not materialization of the image.
Now he useing white powder of stone to make vessel. However, The first piece of there vessel was made on the sandy beach. They were copy of ground-surface.
He said, "I want to express through ceramics for table the concept of a vessel that is natural, like scooping up water with cupped hands." We was fascinated by his interesting perspective.
That is this ceramic without affected airs, like a leaf made into a plate. It is an elegant, everyday item which showcases out the comfortable appeal of foods placed on it.

The history of "Yakimono" began with earthenware.
A variety of uses and technologies are born in a long history, and a wide variety of beauty exists today.
After encountering the art of porcelain, working under the potter Taizo Kuroda, and traveling all over Asia to see pottery and its place in people's lives, he now creates vessels where he stands.
In these vessels, one can see his character and way of life.
